“Gala” Literature Reward Winners will be revealed on October 23rd

Preparation for the literature contest "Gala" is nearly over. "Gala" winners will be revealed on 23rd of October in the "Event Hall" on grand ceremonial. The nominees already chosen. 5 person jury consists of the critic Mr. Tamaz Vasadze, Mr. Ivane Amirkhanashvili, translator and publicist Mr. Ucha Sherazadashvili, painter Mr. Bacha Malazonia and translator Ms. Nino Kajaia. Publishing houses have proposed 100 books and only 17 have been selected. Winners will be revealed in following nominations:

 

• The table book
• The book of the year
• The best translation
• The best book for children
• The best book design
• The best project of the year

 

Jury stated that much more interesting books have been represented this year comparing with previous years.
Ms. Nino Kajaia stated:The estimation criteria for "Gala" jury are the same every year - Highest class literature. We receive from the publishing houses already chosen books, that's why it is so difficult to make the final choice. This year we have an innovation in our contest. We have added translated book in the "Table book" nomination.
"Literature contest "Gala" is held for the third year with the initiation and support of the Chairman of Tbilisi City Assembly Mr. Zaal Samadashvili and the Tbilisi City Assembly itself. The winners will be awarded not only with the copy of kolkh axe but also with 4000 Gel.
The Chairman of City Assembly Mr. Zaal Samadashvili stated:"The purpose of every contest is to popularize books and stimulate the writers, the goal of "Gala" is exactly the same, though it is very important that the results will be useful for the readers, the aim of our jury is to award the books which are truly worth it."
"Gala" literature reward ceremony will be held in "Event Hall" foyer on 19:00 on October the 23rd. The Contest which will be broadcasted live by "Imedi TV" will be accompanied by Mr. Nika Memanishvili orchestra.
